BUFFALO, NY - Freshman Paola Leor set a pair of school-records in the second day of the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships Thursday night at the Flickinger Aquatics Center. After the conclusion of the second day of competition, the Colonials are currently ninth of ten schools.
Leor placed broke records in both the 200-yard IM (2:05.86) and 50-yard freestyle (24.02). The freshman's time in the 200-yard IM broke Maggie Moss' three-year record of 2:05.99 by thirteen-hundreths (.13) of a second. Despite having the fifth fastest time in the finals of the IM, Leor was awarded ninth place, as her preliminary time did not rank in the top eight. A native of Miami, FL, Leor finished third in the 50-yard freestyle, breaking Kristen Robertson's 14-year record by six-hundreths (.06) of a second.
Freshman diver Sarah Landry also scored for the Colonials on the day, finishing sixth in the 1-meter dive with 356.90 points.
Friday, February 22 marks the third day of the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships at the Flickinger Aquatics Center. The morning trials begin at 10:30 am, while the finals start at 6:30 pm.
